I am an ontological coach, which means I focus on who you are being rather than what you are doing. Most people (and some coaching styles) focus on adjusting actions and end there. It might help for a moment, but it doesn’t produce lasting change.

The most powerful coaching creates awareness on who you are being, which can easily be described as your thoughts and feelings. We determine who you want to BE and practice being that person by creating new thoughts and feelings. THAT is where the magic happens.

The coaching I do with clients focuses on your present life and looks forward to your future. We work toward goals and how to overcome obstacles that will inevitably get in the way. Clients who have been in therapy for a while often enjoy coaching because they feel like it helps them move forward.

Therapy is commonly focused on looking back and healing past hurts or tramas. Many of my clients also choose to work with a therapist concurrently while working with a coach.

Coaches are not trained to diagnose or treat mental health care issues or mental illness. If you are struggling in these areas, you will be referred to a mental health care professional in cases where coaching is not a good fit.

There is clearly a place for both in every special needs mom’s life.

Interestingly most of us know what we should do, we just aren’t doing it. Ha! Am I right? As a coach I don’t give advice or tell you what you should do, you could just read more books if you wanted more information.

It’s so much more powerful for me to help you see the wisdom you already have. Consider that coaching is more like me holding up a powerful mirror than giving you a guidebook. It helps you see what’s in the way of creating what you desire.

Expensive is a relative term but here are some thoughts to consider.

Have you ever bought an expensive pair of sunglasses? Think about how you take care of them. My guess is you keep them in the case, use only the intended cloth to clean them, and appreciate them when they are on your beautiful face. Now think of the cheapo pair that you bought at the gas station and have stashed away in your glove compartment. They don’t have a case and you rub them on your shirt before you put them on.

Coaching is an investment from a time, money, and energy standpoint. You will show up differently when you’ve chosen to invest in yourself. Perhaps the first breakthrough for you will be deciding if you are worth investing in. Feel stuck in this area? Reach out, I’d be glad to help.
