A Summer Pre-Game Huddle – A Special Needs Mom Community Huddle

Episode 146: A Summer Pre-game Huddle: A Special Needs Mom Community Huddle. White brick background and a photo of a pool with a yellow floatie.

Hello and welcome to the podcast. This week, I did a community huddle with moms Brooke and Rachel. We talked about our history of summer struggles and how we can start this summer being prepared and having a game plan!

Let’s begin by talking about the elephant in the room, the end of the school year. Burnout around this ending of the school year has such a big impact on how we start our summers. We go into the summer season needing a break and usually we actually go into a busier time when summer begins and school ends.

We talk about having less expectations for ourselves as moms over the summer and be more fluid with the way things actually go. We also give examples of ways to take off some of the load over the summer such as a cleaning person or using grocery delivery services during the busy summer season. Maybe you can ask your spouse, a family member or friend to give you a scheduled break once a week or every couple weeks. There are many ways to be on the offensive this summer and not let it catch you off guard.

Moms, you’ve got this summer and you can do it!
