You know when you’re functioning just fine on the outside—but inside, you feel like you’ve got nothing left to give? That was me the day I recorded the intro to this episode. I knew I needed a break, and instead of pushing through, I decided to revisit a past episode that still hits home in a big way.
This one’s all about the crushing weight of responsibility. It’s something we all feel as moms—especially those of us raising kids with disabilities or medical complexities. I asked my podcast community to share what feels heaviest for them, and wow—the responses were honest, raw, and painfully relatable.
One mom said it feels like walking across a frozen lake, just waiting for the crack. Another shared how exhausting it is to pack for travel, knowing if she forgets one thing, it could be a medical emergency. And then there’s the constant emotional weight of being the only one who knows every detail about your child’s care.
But what stood out most to me? We rarely stop to see ourselves in the middle of all that effort. We push forward, mission-focused, and often forget that we’re human too.
This episode is a gentle nudge to pause. To acknowledge how hard it really is. And maybe, just maybe, to say a few kind words to yourself along the way.
